Dr. M. S. Menon graduated from the Armed Forces Medical College, Poona University and completed his postgraduate studies in Medicine from Institute of Naval Medicine, Bombay University. He completed his post-doctoral Fellowship training in HIV Medicine at the University of South Florida and the Florida-Caribbean AIDS Education and Training Centre, Tampa, Florida, USA.
Dr. Menon served in the Indian Army Medical Corps till 1988 and retired in the rank of Major. Since then, he has worked as a Clinical Cardiologist in addition to providing HIV/AIDS and Addiction Management services at Belle Vue Multispeciality Hospital in Mumbai and other private hospitals in the city.
The central Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (MSJE), the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MOHFW) , the Ministry of Ayush, the UNODC-ROSA (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, Regional Office for South Asia- New Delhi, Catholic Relief Services( India & International), and the Indian NGO Kripa Foundation (Medicare, training & research work) were among the organizations to which Dr. Menon provided technical consulting in the areas of HIV/AIDS care and drug abuse management through a variety of appointments.
Dr. Menon also served as an International Consultant to the Ministry of Health, Royal Government of Cambodia, in 2009 on a training program on Addiction management and HIV care, sponsored by the UNODC. His scholarly contributions include Cardiology, HIV/AIDS care and Addiction Management related research papers in several national & international publications, national and international conference presentations, the UNODC’s Substance Use Disorder Practitioners Guide publication and serving as a Contributing Editor of CCRH-HIV/AIDS Monograph for the Ministry of Ayush.
